- Have fun
playing with your dog, while you teach him to listen and watch you
carefully for the next command. Great exercise for you and your
dog!
- Teaching your
dog to jump through a tire, over obstacles, climb over and go through
tunnels, etc.
- Use all
positive reinforcements to make sure you and your dog have fun!
- Eventually,
have your dog under control while off leash and running the agility
course.
- A
"pretest" for all new dogs is performed on the night we schedule
new class sign up and takes about 15 minutes. For more information
on pre-testing,
please
contact us.
What you need to bring/wear:
- Quick release collar. No tags or other hanging items on the collar.
-
2’-4’
leather of cotton leash. You may start out on a 6’ leash, but
be ready to switch to a shorter one.
-
Water
bowl and water.
-
Pet's
favorite small soft treats and favorite toy.
-
Release from your veterinarian to participate.
-
For
yourself, comfortable
loose fitting clothing and tennis shoes, or other shoes you can
run easily.
-
The
building may be cool in winter and warm in summer, please dress
accordingly. Layers often work for winter so you can remove
things as you get more active with you dog.
-
We
also ask at times that class members help us move equipment
around. Be prepared to tie up your dog and assist. (This
is where having the 6’ lead comes in handy.) If for some reason you
cannot physically assist us, please let us know in advance so as
not to cause embarrassment.
-
Be ready to learn and enjoy the time with your
dog. We all started somewhere, so don’t hesitate to ask
questions if there is something you don’t understand.
